What helps a first conversation go well

A first conversation is easier when both sides know what to look at. A little thought beforehand saves time and makes the written quotation more accurate.

Describe the symptom

Say what happens, when it happens and who notices it. For a sync fault, that might be a delay that grows during a long programme. For a workflow issue, it might be repeated confusion at a handover. Specific examples help us suggest where to look first. You do not need to know the cause. Describing what you see is the most useful starting point, and we will work out the rest with you.

Gather what you have

Collect equipment model names, any signal diagrams and notes on how a typical production runs. Older drawings are still useful, even if they are out of date, because they show how the setup has changed. If nothing is written down, say so. We can build a simple diagram together early on, and that exercise often reveals useful details by itself.

Think about who will use it

The best documents are written for a particular reader. Tell us whether the material is for experienced engineers, new operators or a mixed team. That decides how much background we include and how technical the language becomes. A guide for a seasoned crew can be brief, while training notes for newcomers need more explanation. Knowing the reader keeps the finished work focused.
